We’ve yet to see an actual photo of Volkswagen’s “New Midsize Sedan,” but the automaker is more than happy to release sketches of its future four-door.
Few details shown in this rendering weren’t seen in the artwork released earlier this year, but VW’s designers skipped the artsy shadows this time around, letting us see additional detail. The headlamps bear a strong resemblance to the Phaeton, as does the narrow grille. It also seems as if designers gave the upper edges of the hood a softer edge, making it more rounded than the rectangular snout previously suggested.
Still, all this means little until we actually see the car. Given that it’s expected to enter production in late 2010 or early 2011, we’re betting that won’t happen until next year.
