In a recent Shell TV ad, a Nissan 370Z gets a new batch of oil. The catch? The Z is see-through — as the oil is poured in, we see it drip to the pan, and we watch it circulate through the engine.
The gist of the ad, according to Shell, is to show how oil travels through modern cars, that it doesn’t just sit at the bottom of the engine. Hence, a see-through 370Z.
A short “making of” clip has been uploaded to YouTube. The three-minute video highlights the effort needed to make the Z — like disassembling an entire car and fine-tuning each individual component out of Perspex thermoplastic by hand. Click here to watch.
