Earlier this year, Fiat released the special-edition Fiat 500 Pink and 500C Pink to please the fairer sex. Fiat has now injected some machismo into the hatchback in the form of the 2011 500 BlackJack.
Like previous special-edition 500s, the coolest part of this special edition is the paint job. In deference to the well-known card game, BlackJack hints at the car’s matte black exterior paint. The whole car is done in black, with the main exterior in a matte finish. The door handles, side view mirrors, and license plate holder are all done in a metallic finish. Special 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels are also black, with a red accent.
Previous special-edition 500s were based on one model specification of the 500, but the BlackJack can be based on either the 1.2- or 1.4 Sport-spec 500s. Red brake calipers are an additional exterior enhancement on the 1.4 Sport 500s, but not on the 1.2-spec.
Only 200 examples of the 500 BlackJack will be produced and will initially only be available for sale online. The base 1.2 500 BlackJack starts around $19,000 in Europe, and the uplevel 1.4 Sport starts at $21,100 — a $2000 premium over both cars’ standard configurations. Unfortunately all 200 examples will likely be relegated to Europe as we won’t receive the 500 until all 200 examples are likely sold out.
