Two tuning companies from opposite sides of the world have revealed their takes on a sporty crossover, and a sporty hybrid. Germany’s Hamann modified two- and four-door versions of the Range Rover Evoque, while Japan’s Wald International worked over the Lexus CT200h.
We’re big fans of the sharp-edged, eye-catching design of the Range Rover Evoque, but the tuners apparently had a different opinion. Hamann’s transformation begins with 1.2-inch lowering springs, 22-inch wheels with titanium screws, new front and rear fascias, and a special center exhaust. Flared fenders increase the width of the Range Rover Evoque by 2.8 inches at the front and 3.1 inches at the rear. Under the hood, Hamann installs a new exhaust and air intake, and reprograms the engine computer, to bolster power on the 2.0-liter turbo-four gasoline and 2.2-liter turbodiesel engines. The 2.0-liter engine, which is the only mill available in the American Range Rover Evoque, apparently has its power upgraded by 38 hp to 278 hp.
Japanese tuner Wald International, meanwhile, chose to give the Lexus CT200h a face-lift. Called the Sports Line Black Bison Edition, the modified car makes its debut this October at the 2012 China Auto Salon in Shanghai. The tuned car looks far busier than the tidy factory model thanks to a bold new front fascia with big air vents, and a quartet of LED running lights on either side. The rear is decked out with both a roof and mid-gate spoiler, as well as a convoluted diffuser and quad exhaust tips. New side skirts and seven spoke wheels complete the transformation.
