What’s the best thing about having your product prominently placed in a summer sci-fi blockbuster film? It turns into a great advertising opportunity. By the looks of this new TV spot, General Motors seems keen to (once again) leverage the the Chevrolet Camaro’s prominent role in the latest Transformers movie for its own purposes.
“You may never have to outrun a Decepticon invasion,” the narrator says. “It’s nice to know you can.” Perhaps. But could a Camaro — even the new ZL1, which bears a striking resemblance to the Bumblebee character shown here — outrun a Corvette ZL1? Something tells us there are other options — even within Chevy’s own portfolio — that are perhaps better suited for fleeing impending robot-inflicted carnage.
