Toyota revealed the new tagline that will adorn its marketing and advertising materials from the end of this year. Toyota says the new line “Let’s Go Places” is supposed to signal a new direction for the company. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda formally announced the new tagline during a dealer conference held in Las Vegas.
Toyota’s tagline was previously “Moving Forward”, a phrase introduced in 2004. The new “Let’s Go Places” mantra apparently “evokes the forward-looking and optimistic momentum of Toyota in America.” Moreover, Toyota says the tagline “reflects the company’s commitment to more exciting products.”
“The phrase conveys a dual meaning of physically going places and taking off on an adventure, while also expressing optimism and the promise of exciting innovation that enriches people’s lives,” company group vice president Bill Fay said in a statement. “‘Let’s Go Places’ speaks to the evolution of Toyota.”
The “Let’s Go Places” tagline will first debut in a commercial for the 2013 Toyota Avalon on December 31. Starting in 2013, the line will be integrated in all of Toyota’s advertising and marketing materials, including TV and online outlets.
At the dealer meeting yesterday, CEO Toyoda also said that Toyota would launch seven all-new or redesigned vehicles in the U.S. in 2013. He didn’t elaborate on what those vehicles might be; we can at least expect a new version of the Corolla compact sedan, and a new RAV4 crossover.
