These days, there are literally dozens of schools that promise to make you a better driver, but if you’re really itching to wring an Aston Martin around the hallowed Nürburgring while simultaneously earning a competition license, your selection process just became a little easier.
Aston Martin already offers a number of different performance driving clinics, but owners can now spring for the company’s Nürburgring Driving Academy, which is based out of the automaker’s trackside test center. Participants are given one-on-one lessons with a personal instructor, albeit on the grounds of the test center itself.
As skills progress, drivers will ultimately be given a challenging final exam: a full lap of the 13.5-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife track. Those who complete the Academy to this degree will likely walk away with a competition license, enabling them to compete on the Green Hell in the future.
“The course underlines both essential elements of Aston Martin driving: road safety and track etiquette,” said Wolfgang Schubauer, director of Aston Martin’s Nürburgring test center. “We intend that each owner will leave with a clear understanding of their driving skills and a heightened sense of reaction and control.”
Perhaps so, but we expect the cost to participate will be extremely steep. Pricing for the program isn’t listed as each course is reportedly tailor made to the student’s needs, but seeing as the company’s only U.S.-based driving school runs participants $2500 for a single day, we don’t expect the German program to be cheap.
