Subaru’s newest recall affects the 2010 Legacy and Outback, and this time, the problem is with a certain grease used on the steering roll connector.
According to NHTSA filings, the grease used can cause the flat cables of the roll connectors to crack, which could then damage the surrounding electrical circuits. Damaged circuitry would cause the airbag warning light to illuminate and the loss of steering-wheel-mounted controls, including the cruise control, radio controls, paddle shifters, and the horn. Subaru has received nine reports associated with this issue and is currently unable to determine how many vehicles are potentially affected.
