Automakers can capitalize on their historic past by giving new life to old production models and concept cars. For a local festival in the United Kingdom, Vauxhall has breathed new energy into an already powerful muscle car of the 1960s, and pumped 3000 horsepower from its V-8.
You read that right. For the VXR Power Festival, Vauxhall has revived a historic model nameplate and given it awesome power. To announce its partnership with drag racing team Red Victor, Vauxhall tuned the 8.8-liter V-8 in a 1967 Victor FD to produce 3000 horsepower. Though still in development stages, the FD is rumored to complete the quarter-mile in just 6.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 240 mph.
The Victor FD, which Vauxhall claims is street-legal, will make an appearance at the Festival during the last weekend of August. If the rejuvenated FD is any indication, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Vaxuhall and Red Victor.
