Spied! 2013 Lexus GS Unwrapped in China

2013 Lexus GS Front teaser

The official unveiling of the 2013 Lexus GS is just days away at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. But why wait for Lexus to unveil the new GS? A news outlet in China apparently snagged photos of a mostly bare 2012 GS350 in China and put them out on the web for the whole world to see.

While we’ve driven the 2013 Lexus GS before, we’ve never actually seen one completely devoid of camouflage. Not surprisingly, there isn’t anything particularly groundbreaking about the GS’ design. The most prominent feature on this GS 350 would have to be the twin chrome bars on either side of the grille, flanked by LED headlamps. Otherwise, the all-wheel drive model pictured here looks like an attractive, yet more conservative take on the controversial LF-Gh concept from last year’s New York International Auto Show. From what we can tell, the GS 350 loses the LFA design cues from the LF-Gh concept – although that’s not to say they won’t return when Lexus unleashes the GSF in the future.

Check out the China Car Times’ spy photos in the gallery below and let us know what you think of the new GS. Stayed tuned for the 2013 Lexus GS’ official unveiling at Pebble Beach, you best believe we’ll have the photos.

Yes! I can’t help but think the rear looks like a Hyundai.

Other than that, not bad, in a unique Japanese way. It needs edgier wheels though.

Ugh-lyyy! It looks like a test mule where they just take some body panels and put them on the car.

Wow! The concept was trying too hard and, IMO, looked like it had no real identity or direction.
But this watered down production version is so pukable.
The only cool thing about it is implementing the Lexus logo into the tail light lens design.

To be frank, I really hope the car looks better in person, because it looks like the Hyundai Sonata’s more awkward third cousin.
