The BlueSport, which will feature most of VW’s latest green-friendly technological advancements, will give the brand a much-needed edge, in the form of a small roadster. Stop/start technology and regenerative braking work will work with a hot turbocharged engine — we’re not sure yet whether it’s going to be diesel or gas-powered — for an estimated 55 mpg. With a base price estimated to be under $30,000, it will be able to compete with the likes of the Mazda Miata, or even hotter convertibles. What’s not to like?
The BlueSport roadster joins a growing list of exciting, green sports cars, like the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder.

The BlueSport is beautiful. With the larger, sportier engine, I would be happy to add another VW to the garage.

Yes, I would buy it. A more sophisticated, probably more accommodating offering than the Miata, and a good choice instead of used fill-in-the-blank-here.

I would definately buy it! But only if it were competitive with the Miata in price, as the MR2 Spider, S2000, Solstice and Sky gone, there is only one affordable 2 seat roadster to buy here, and unless the BlueSport is competitive with the Mazda in everyway without being say more than a grand more as a base and a grand more as a loaded model compared to comparably equipped mazdas, people will go for the mazda. Let’s face it, Miatas may not be as affordable as they once were, but for that sticker price they offer great handling and a pretty fun driving experience for anyone who is not freakishly tall, and even a freakishly tall person could probably have fun in one with the top down.

When VW offers the BlueSport with a diesel engine here in the States, I’ll consider it. Great handling, fuel economy, and looks, I can’t wait!

I like the styling and if it really delivers on the handling, it would be awesome. I would definitely put it on my list of cars for serious consideration when I go shopping.

I like it, and if it lives up to these promises, I would buy it, or at the very least consider it strongly.Tough choice between this and a Miata, though. Is it just me, or do VW and Mazda compete on several levels, despite the different style and nature of the companies?examples: Mazdaspeed 3 and Golf GTI, Mazda 2 and Polo. I’m liking what is being produced from this rivalry (if it can be considered one).

I like it. I like VW. I’ll consider one for my mid-life crisis if the Blue Sport gets the “green light” It must be priced more like a Miata and less like a TT, otherwise, what’s the point? Hey, VW, it’s OK to “decontent” this car. It’s a [underline]roadster [/underline].
