In July, we first heard rumblings of a two-wheeled Smart, which is being billed as a complement to the Fortwo. British publication Autocar has once again dug up some information on the city-oriented scooter, reporting it is just a concept with no officially announced production plans. Autocar sources say the Smart scooter will use a lithium-ion battery, can travel up to 60 miles on a full charge, and will even come equipped with a single specially designed airbag.

Small-car competitor Mini will also present its electric two-wheel concept in Paris. First divulged on the brand’s Facebook page, Mini is calling its scooter (in yellow) the future of urban mobility and is supposedly putting three individual trims on display. A lithium-ion battery will be employed as well.

Stay tuned to Automobile for the official unveiling of the Smart and Mini electric scooters when the Paris show gets underway.

As with the Smart scooter, Mini is not revealing much about its new concept until closer to its public debut on September 30 but does say it uses a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged by a retractable lead in the rear fairing.
