Hyundai commissioned tuning house Cosworth to create a one-off Genesis Coupe for the 2012 SEMA show that takes the rear-wheel drive coupe to “racecar levels.” We’re not sure what that means, but we do like what we see in this preview.
Dubbed the Cosworth Genesis Racing Series (CGRS), the 0ne-off coupe is based on the standard V-6 powered Genesis Coupe. However, Cosworth has turned up the power: the CGRS produces 389 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque from its direct-injected 3.8-ilter V-6 thanks to improved heat management, freer-flowing induction and exhaust systems, and an enhance ECU module. That’s an addition of 41 hp and 30 lb-ft when compared to the 3.8-liter’s standard outputs. The tuners have also slapped on its Big-Brake System and a performance suspension setup.
Of course, Cosworth couldn’t call it quits with just chassis and powertrain updates. Put on your sunglasses because the CGRS is pained in a “rentina-bending” hue of satin-gloss blue paint. Carbon fiber has extensively been used to accent the exterior; the front splitter, side skirt lip, and rear diffuser are all made of the composite material. A tastefully restrained spoiler is neatly integrated into the decklid, and the CGRS Edition wheels fill the wheel wells nicely. Inside, the CGRS allegedly boasts a two-tone interior color scheme with bi-color sport seats and shift boot, along with unique pedals, shift knob, and steering wheel.
The Cosworth-tuned Hyundai CGRS will make its official debut at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada later this month.
