The Problem: Certain Maserati Quattroporte, GranTurismo, and Alfa Romeo 8C sedans and coupes are being recalled for their rear tie rod assemblies. The assemblies may not have had enough anti-corrosion material applied. If this is the case, the tie rods could weaken and potentially fail. If the tie rods were to fail, there is a higher chance the driver could lose control of the vehicle and crash.
The Fix: Starting at the end of June, Maserati will notify owners and have dealers replace the tie rod assemblies. Owners can contact Maserati at 1-877-696-2737 regarding recall number 205.
Number of Affected Vehicles: A total of 7438 cars are being recalled. The automaker hasn’t specified how many of each vehicle is affected by the rusting problem, but it includes the 2005-2008 Maserati Quattroporte sedan, the 2008 Maserati GranTurismo coupe, and the 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C coupe.
