Nissan Rogue Power Steering Control Unit Recall
The Problem: Some 2011 Nissan Rogue models may have had the circuit board for the Electric Power Steering (EPS) assist control unit improperly installed from the factory. If the circuit board is installed in the wrong position, it may put additional stress on the solder joints, causing the solder to crack and the unit to eventually fail.
The Fix: Nissan will notify owner of the problem, and dealers will begin to replace the EPS control units if necessary. The recall is expected to be carried out this month, and will be free of charge to owners.
Number of Vehicles Affected: The recall affects approximately 7365 Rogue models manufactured from August 17, 2010, through October 30, 2010.
Toyota Corolla/Sienna Aftermarket Equipment Recall
The Problem: Certain 2010-2011 Toyota Corolla and 2011 Sienna models sold in the southeast region of the U.S. may have had aftermarket equipment installed incorrectly. The non-Toyota accessories in question include Bluetooth hands-free devices and aftermarket navigation for Corolla models, and overhead entertainment systems and Bluetooth devices for Siennas. The risk is that the trim panel retention clip on the A-pillar may have been damaged when the wiring was installed. This trim piece could come loose in a crash and injure the driver or occupants.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the A-pillar trim panel retention clip and replace the part if necessary for free. The recall is expected to begin this month.
Number of Vehicles Affected: The problem affects roughly 518 vehicles.
Subaru Impreza/Outback/Legacy Brake Master Cylinder Recall
The Problem: Certain Model-year 2012 Subaru Impreza, Legacy, and Outback models may be equipped with brake master cylinder units, which, if faulty, could cause increased brake pedal travel along with requiring more force to slow or stop the vehicle.
The Fix: Subaru will begin carrying out the recall by notifying owners, expected to happen this month. Dealers will then inspect the brake master cylinder, and replace the part if necessary, free of charge.
Number of Vehicles Affected: In total, the recall affects roughly 31,959 vehicles. Impreza sedans and wagons manufactured from April 21, 2011, through November 15, 2011, along with Legacy and Outback models produced from October 17, 2011, through November 23, 2011, may be affected. Model-year 2012 Impreza WRX and STI models are not included in the recall.
As always, owners are encouraged to contact the manufacturers with questions, or get in touch with NHTSA for more details.
