Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models built between the 2007 and 2009 model years are subject to a General Motors recall, as are 2007 model Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, and Saturn Ion models for a faulty fuel pump module on units sold in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas. Nissan also is recalling 2012 model year two-wheel-drive Frontier, Xterra and Pathfinder models for faulty front wheel hubs.
2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, 2007 Saturn Ion
The Problem: General Motors is recalling 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent models originally sold or currently registered in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas; model year 2007 through 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, and Saturn ION vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, or Texas. These vehicles have a faulty return port on the fuel pump module may crack, which could cause a fuel leak.
The Fix: General Motors will notify owners and replace the fuel pump module at no charge. Owners can contact GM at 800-521-7300, or NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.
Number of Units Affected: 40,859 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5 models; 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent models.
2012 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra 2WD
The Problem: Nissan is recalling 2012 Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra two-wheel drive vehicles manufactured from June 19, 2012, through July 12, 2012. These vehicles may have been equipped with front wheel hubs that may not meet the design hardness specifications. The wheel hub was manufactured below hardness specification, and may wear prematurely and crack.
Consequence: Vehicles with faulty hubs may fail, possibly resulting in a crash. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the wheel hub may break, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
The Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replaced the left and right side front wheel hub assemblies free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about October 8, 2012.
