Pricing for the 2010 Subaru WRX STI Special Edition has been released, and it’s quite a deal. The limited run model will retail for $33,690, including destination. With a starting price of $2000 less than a standard 2010 WRX STI, the Special Edition should be a popular choice among the budget-minded tuner crowd.
Stripped of some excessive equipment, the Special Edition STI is a tuner’s dream car. As we reported last week, the standard HID headlights are downgraded to halogen beams, and the 10-disc CD player has been swapped out for a single disc setup. Side mirror turn indicators have also been deleted and air conditioning has been demoted to manual control. Subaru also upgraded the suspension, creating an even sharper-handling car.
Only 125 examples of the Special Edition will be sprayed in the sought-after Alpine White; the rest will be offered in the standard STI palette. All of the WRX STI Special Editions will feature the Japanese-only WRX Spec C wheels. The Special Edition rolls into dealer lots early next spring.
