Want another retro touch on your Dodge Challenger? If you’re ordering a new 2010 model, you can shell out a little extra cash and have it sprayed in the legendary “Plum Crazy” paint.
Available only on Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8 models, the Plum Crazy color is sure to attract some attention. The purple paint is a $225 addition to the R/T Classic, and $500 extra for the SRT8. The SRT8 version justifies its higher price by including seats with a body-colored insert. R/T Classic models do without the special seats (although they are available as dealer-installed accessories), but the Classic does come with either matte black or bright white body stripes.
The unique paint choice was first offered on 1970 and 1971 Challengers, along with several other Mopar machines (the same hue was called “In-Violet” when applied to a Plymouth ‘Cuda). The premium for the purple was slightly less in those days, adding about $14.05 to the sticker price.
To this day, the Plum Crazy cars, along with other Mopars painted in factory high-impact colors, are highly collectible, and the 2010 Challenger in the same hue should be no exception.
