Although it wasn’t the wildest thing to grace the 2007 Frankfurt motor show, there’s no denying the Peugeot 308 RCZ concept was stunning. Judging by these teaser shots, we’ll be able to say the same about the production version.
As had been rumored, the RCZ will transition from concept to reality with few (if any) visible changes. Peugeot’s decided to nix its traditional numeric nomenclature for the sports coupe, but make no mistake: This is still based on the generic midsize 308 range. Much like a coachbuilt special, the RCZ will likely use stock 308 mechanicals–possibly the 175-hp, 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 even–underneath the comely body.
We’ll know for certain this September, when the production-ready RCZ is revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. Peugeot expects to have the coupe in dealers across Europe by the Spring of 2010.
