Although we’ve been able to configure a 2011 Fiesta for a few months now, Monday, February 15 is the day when consumers can walk into a Ford dealer and formally order the car. So far the Fiesta has been very popular and Ford claims there have been over 6000 reservations.
Ford also declares that 65 percent of the reservations made have been for the 5-door hatchback version. More than half have opted for the up-level SE, SEL, or SES models, which are equipped with the gadgetry consumers now desire even in entry-level vehicles. Participants who acted quickly with the early reservation program received a free Sync upgrade (a $595 value) when the SE model was chosen. However exciting this may be, none of it means much until Monday, as no deposits were made with the reservations. We expect the Fiesta to be a very popular vehicle in that it is capable of 40 mpg on the highway and offers several amenities not available on other vehicles in its class.
The 2011 Fiesta has received a lot of attention lately, especially with the viral marketing approach Ford has taken. Not only did a group of young folks travel the U.S. to promote a European-spec version of the car, but the Fiesta has its own Facebook and Twitter feeds. Ford has been successful with its Fiesta movement, stating half of the reservations made have come from non-Ford owners.
Among the most popular color choices were Lime Squeeze and Blue Flame. Though it’s not being launched until this summer, we’d suggest visiting your nearest Ford dealer soon if you are interested.
