The Paris Motor Show is only held every other year — so in celebration of the 2010 show starting later this week, we’ve round up some of our favorite Parisian debuts from years past.

Did You Name Yesterday’s Paris Show Star?
It’s hard to mistake the 1955 Citroen DS, and quite a few readers managed to ID the quirky French sedan yesterday.
Launched at the 1955 show, the DS was unlike any other automobile, in terms of both styling and engineering. The sleek, rounded form was almost alien-like, while the novel hydropneumatic suspension provided an impossibly smooth ride quality. Remarkably, the public managed to place 12,000 orders for DS sedans in the first day of the 1955 Paris show.
Were they insane? Probably not. We sampled a DS21 Chapron cabriolet a few years back, and found it was one of the most comfortable vehicles we’ve ever driven.
