Audi looks set to celebrate its new partnership with Ducati. Audi had already teased the fact that an RS5 coupe would be heading to the annual Pikes Peak Hill Climb, but now the company has added even more excitement to its announcement by showing the RS5 alongside a Ducati motorcycle.
The pairing at Pikes Peak will celebrate Audi’s latest corporate partner; the German car company acquired the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati earlier this year. Based on the teaser photos and video, it looks like both Audi and Ducati will enter in this weekend’s Pikes Peak race. The timing is already significant for Audi: twenty-five years ago, Walter Rohrl set a Pikes Peak course record in an Audi S1 rally car.
“We are teaming up with Ducati at Pikes Peak to celebrate our common heritage at this iconic mountain,” promises Audi.
Ducati, meanwhile, posted photos of its race bikes practicing at the famed mountain course, with the accompanying tagline, “New friends Ducati and Audi USA meet at Pikes Peak.” The bikes used are racing versions of the Ducati 1200 Multistrada S Pikes Peak model.
We should find out exactly what Audi and Ducati have planned for Pikes Peak later this weekend. The races are now scheduled for August 12, having been postponed after wildfires ravaged much of Colorado earlier this summer.
