Marco Molinari, Opel Cfo

Only one day after the ousting of Fritz Henderson from GM, Opel CFO Marco Molinari announced he is leaving to pursue other interests.

As of right now, Opel has not announced Molinari’s successor. Opel merely said his successor will be “announced in due course.”

Molinari joined GM in 1995 as a senior financial analyst at the GM treasurer’s office in New York. Since then he has held several leadership positions at both Opel and GM, including assignments in eight countries on three continents. He led the Olympia turnaround program at GM Europe and Opel between 2001 and 2003 before becoming Opel’s CFO in 2005.

“During a very difficult period, Marco Molinari has done a great job for our company and has proven his financial expertise,” said Hans Demant, Opel managing director, in a statement. “He was instrumental in providing Opel a new chance due to the bridge loan that we received this year. I want to thank Marco personally for his hard work and wish him all the best for his further career.”

Molinari’s resignation was effective as of December 1. He left Opel to pursue other interests but gave no more information.
