You’re looking at Mercedes-Benz’s plan to keep buyers interested in the 2013 C-Class: the new Sport Package. Carrying a $2300 price tag, the sport package keeps things interesting in the automaker’s premium compact segment competitor a year after the U.S.-spec sedan and coupe were refreshed.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is consistently near or at the top of the compact premium sports segment every month in sales, but the new Sport package seems like a good addition to the fleet. Available in coupe and sedan forms, the sport package includes seven-spoke 18-inch AMG wheels, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and the automaker’s Tex/Dinamica sport seats. It appears a body kit is part of the package as well.
What really sets apart the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sport package from other C-Classes is the red accents. You’ll find red stitching on the steering wheel, red piping on the edge of the floormats, additional red stitching on the doors and the seats, plus red seatbelts.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is offered in C250, all-wheel-drive C300, C350, and C63 AMG forms. The C250 remains powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 201 hp while the C300 now benefits from direct-injection technology; the car’s 3.0-liter V-6 now produces 248 hp, up 20 hp from the 2012 model. The C350 is powered by a 302-hp 3.5-liter V-6 while the C63 AMG model is good for 451-481 hp from its hand-built 6.2-liter V-8. For the 2013 model year, all C-Class coupes and sedans get a 5.8-inch display screen in the center dash, while a seven-inch screen and the automaker’s Comand system are optional. Also new this year, the all-wheel-drive C300 and C350 models now come with engine stop-start tech.
