In great news for wealthy teenagers and parents nationwide, Mercedes-Benz is announcing the formation of a Teen Driving Academy program starting in late 2011. A similar program in the UK has been offered for several years, and proved effective in increasing the first-time license exam pass rate from 43 to 79 percent.
The course will combine key elements of the UK program and U.S. state DMV requirements to create an integrated curriculum focused on safety and accident prevention.
The program is also based around the Graduated Driver Licensing framework, which requires driver’s education, combined classroom and online learning, on-road training, mandatory supervised practice, and restricted driving privileges for new drivers driving alone.
