Happy 20th birthday, Miata!Although itseems like yesterday,Mazda launched its lauded little roadster two decades ago. To celebrate, the automaker has prepared a special-edition MX-5 for its home market.
Like many other special-edition models, the 20th Anniversary MX-5 is little more than an appearance package, and a mild one at that. In addition to the requisite 20th Anniversary badging, Mazda added clear foglamps with bright bezels, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and unique Recaro seats, finished in red leather with black Alcantara inserts.
Customers can add the 20th Anniversary package to either a soft-top RS model with a six-speed manual transmission, or a VS model complete with both the retractable hardtop and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Although Mazda is limiting sales of this model to the Japanese market, it hasn’t stated if it plans to restrict exterior colors or total production figures.
