Los Angeles 2010: 2011 Hyundai Elantra to Offer Heated Rear Seats

Hyundai threw a couple of curve balls at the press after unveiling of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Front row in the Elantra is definitely roomy enough; Hyundai states the Elantra qualifies as a midsize vehicle according to the EPA. Leg and shoulder-room seemed to feel generous. However, just like “parent” Sonata, rear headroom suffers a bit from the swooping roofline design.

The Elantra’s interior fit-and-finish and, especially, design look more appropriate in a premium or luxury vehicle than a compact. The interior is also the source of Hyundai’s first surprise at the show: for the first time in the segment, heated rear seats are now available. Second surprise? The 2011 Hyundai Elantra’s starting price is $14,830, which drew applause from the crowd.

Dealers will be receiving the all-new Elantra next month. What do you think of the Elantra’s design and pricing? Share your opinions at the Comment section below.
