Lexus Premium Compact Concept

Is there room for a Lexus smaller than the IS? Apparently, yes. Toyota’s luxury division plansto unveila “Premium Compact Concept” at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show, serving as a sneak peek at a forthcoming production model.

For the time being, Lexus is rather mum on the concept. We’ve been provided this shadowy artist’s rendering, which reminds us quite a bit of the long-departed IS SportCross. Lexus claims the concept “will demonstrate a compelling mix of technical innovation and ground-breaking design that promises to raise the bar in the premium concept segment.”

Ward’s Auto suggests the PCC is a thinly disguised preview of a new model slated for production in 2011, and depending on its reception, could possibly make its way to the North American market as well. We’ll hopefully learn more about Lexus’ plans on September 15, when the PCC is officially unveiled in Frankfurt. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest on Lexus’ compact and all the other news from the 2009 Frankfurt motor show.

Acura got rid of the RSX (or the Integra to you non-Americans/Canadians) in 2006 much to the dismay of, well, myself, and many car guys. Now Lexus wants to compete with the RX8? Is something happening in Japan I don’t know about reguarding styling/platform design?P.S. It better have the IS350 motor…
