There seems to be a leak in the house of Shelby. A user on the TeamShelby.com forums snagged these images, purportedly of the 2011 Ford GT500, from a promo video that appeared on Ford’s streaming video Web site this morning. Ford has, of course, since removed the clip.
The Detroit News is reporting that the next GT500 will get a 10-hp bump, bringing the total output to 550 hp. The newspaper also reports that the supercharged 5.4L V-8 is all-aluminum, confirming the contents of last week’s leaked order guide. The change from iron to aluminum should make for a decent weight decrease over the front axle that, in turn, could mean better handling and fuel economy, and more power.
The official reveal happens Monday, so stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest on the muscle-bound Mustang.
