Hyundai Motors will soon be offering a tuner-ready version of its 2010 Genesis, based on the 2.0T Coupe. The R-Spec Genesis coupe will feature the performance features of the 2.0T Track model while removing all non-essential convenience equipment.
Truly prepared for the tuner, the R-Spec features Brembo stoppers, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and user-adjustable front camber bolts. Aesthetically the R-Spec receives special badges and a gunmetal finish on the 19-inch alloy wheels. In order to lower weight and price, the special Genesis coupe has been relieved of its Bluetooth connectivity, automatic headlights, cruise control, trip computer, chrome interior accents, and steering wheel audio controls a 68 lb savings over the Track model. Features remaining in the special edition are iPod connectivity, air conditioning, and power windows.
The R-Spec starts at $24,500 including $750 in destination charges. This price affords the buyer an extra $3000 in tuning potential from the slightly more expensive Track model, which starts at $27,500 including destination.
Available in three colors– Karussell White, Bathurst Black, and Tsukuba Red — the R-Spec hits dealer lots this month. We’ll get a closer look at the stripped-down Genesis coupe when it makes its world debut November 3 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
