Hyundai apparently has big plans for this year’s SEMA Show, as the Korean automaker has teased a number of show cars that will be in attendance. The brand’s latest custom creation, a Hyundai Genesis Coupe styled by well-known tuner John Pangilinan, will join the three other concepts in Las Vegas next month.
Following up on his past SEMA concepts for Hyundai, Pangilinan applies his signature custom paint to the exterior of the Genesis Coupe JP Edition. The tuner calls the color Atlantic Blue, which appears to be a dark matte blue with a slightly metallic quality to it. Other exterior modifications include wide-body metal fender flares, custom graphics, carbon fiber side skirts and a rear lip from Seibon, an APR carbon fiber front splitter, and custom V-LED headlights.
To increase performance, Pangilinan went with entry-level modifications for cost-effective power gains, adding an AEM cold air intake and ARK Performance exhaust with “turbo” downpipe. Underpinning the Genesis Coupe are KW Variant 3 coil-overs and 19-inch mystic black MORR VS52 mono-forged wheels wrapped in 275/30 ZR19- and 315/25 ZR19-size Toyo Proxes T1R tires front and rear, respectively. Those wheels hide a Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit with 15-inch calipers, and are secured using Muteki SR35 lugnuts.
Inside, the JP Edition features Recaro Cross Sportster seats custom-upholstered in Katzkin suede. Takata Drift III harnesses hold the driver and passenger in place, while a GoPro Hero 3 video camera mounted to the custom harness bar can record any and all shenanigans. Topping off the build is a comprehensive audio system making use of an Alpine head unit, amp, and two 10-inch subwoofers.
The Genesis Coupe JP Edition will have to share the limelight with at least two other Genesis Coupes, including the 1000-hp turbocharged example from Bisimoto and a stroked 4.0-liter V-6 version from Ark Performance. Hyundai is also bringing a modified Veloster hatchback from EGR. Which Hyundai show car is your favorite so far?
