GM Prepares Four 2010 Chevrolet Camaros for SEMA Show

As the “official” car of this week’s 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas, we expect to see plenty of customized 2010 Chevrolet Camaros, but we didn’t know what the General itself would bring to the party until today. Courtesy of the folks within GM Performance Parts, four uniquely Camaro concepts are destined for a Las Vegas debut.

Camaro Black
The “Lord Vader, your car is ready” slogan was originally used to advertise the 1994 Impala SS, but we think it’s apropos for this ride. Apart from the paint, the darkly-tinted windows, headlamps, and tail lights give the car a sinister look, while the bright red angel eyes surrounding the headlamps give the custom Camaro a badass look.

Camaro LS7
The name says it all. This concept is little more than a Camaro with the Corvette Z06′s 7.0-liter LS7 stuffed underhood, but we think that’s one sweet recipe. Think of it as a modern interpretation of the COPO Camaros of days gone – no frills, no fuss, but plenty of power – at least 505 hp. Though we’re not likely to see an LS7-powered Camaro offered by GM in the near future, enthusiasts should take note that virtually all the parts necessary to build such a car are offered through the Performance Parts catalog…

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Camaro
Though Junior takes to the banked ovals in a “modified” Impala SS, it so happens he’s quite the Camaro connoisseur. This particular Camaro SS was reportedly modified for his tastes, which included the custom two-tone scheme, a lowered suspension, and 21-inch alloys borrowed from the Camaro Convertible concept.

Camaro GS
If the name “Mark Donohue” means anything to you, you’ll love this concept. Designers decked out the new Camaro as if it were one of Donohue’s old Penske-Sunaco race cars – specifically, the #6 car that Donohue piloted to victory in the 1969 Trans Am championship.

Aside from the throwback paint scheme, GM turned to Riley Technologies to make this a true race car. The body sports welded seams, carbon fiber doors, and a close-ratio Tremec six-speed manual transmission bolted to a stock LS3 V-8. The best news, however, is that the GS isn’t a concept, but a functional prototype. Look for new Camaros to take to the track in the 2009 Grand Am Koni Challenge series.
