General Motors is jumping the gun this month and beginning its annual red tag sale three weeks early. The sale that begins today, November 4th, usually starts around Thanksgiving weekend; regardless, the sale will run until January 5.
“We typically start it Thanksgiving weekend, [but] we’re going to start it tomorrow,” said GM marketing chief Mark LaNeve. “It’ll be a net price play much like Employee Discount. We’re going to have a very aggressive ad campaign a across all of our divisions.”
The sale encompasses all of GM’s brands but excludes a few specific models such as the Cadillac CTS-V. Customers almost get the supplier prices on some of GM’s most desired vehicles.
One major change for 2008 is that some brands that have previously not participated in the red tag sale are included this year. Cadillac, Hummer, and Saab brands are now included in the deal.
The red tag sale is known for its slogan “the price on the tag is the price you pay,” meaning that the cars will all be marked with a final out the door price.
