In its attempt to find a permanent CEO, General Motors has sourced Spencer Stuart for its executive search. Spencer Stuart, a world renowned headhunter for upper level leadership positions, will hopefully find what GM is looking for.
With plans to sell more vehicles in Asia in 2010, GM is looking for someone who is familiar with the international automotive market Automotive News reported. With offices in 27 countries, Spencer Stuart may just be able to find the right person for the job. Sources also say that a new hire with good government ties could help speed up the company’s initial public offering.
As we reported last week, GM is restricted to $500,000 in annual compensation to lure prospective CEOs, which may severely limit its applicants. The company may offer long-term stock options to sweeten the deal. GM is reportedly going to search outside as well as inside its walls for the new CEO. In the past, GM has almost exclusively found talent from within.
Think you have what it takes to lead GM? Contact Spencer Stuart here. Check back with Automobile; we’ll have updates as they arise.
