Gazoo Racing to Compete in 24 Hours of the Nürburgring with Lexus LF-A
Whether the Lexus LF-A supercar will ever actually go into production is up for debate. However, the Lexus supercar will make its second appearance at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring this year.
Lexus is teasing us once again with its LF-A supercar at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring endurance race this year. The supercar was supposedly going to makes its production debut a couple years ago. The car that will compete at the Nürburgring will not be in production trim, but gives hope the Lexus flagship supercar may still come to life.
The road car is rumored to be powered by a V-10 engine producing upwards of 500 hp. Full specifications for the road car are speculative at this point, but will likely be similar to the race car as the endurance race will give Lexus a chance to fine tune the car- if it really is going to go into production.
Gazoo Racing and Lexus have however, released full specifications for the LF-A competing at the Nürburgring. It is powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 producing more than 500 hp- the same powerplant as rumored to be in the production-spec vehicle. Power is transferred to the ground by a paddle-shifted sequential manual gearbox. The layout from the concept carries on as well with a front-mid-engine layout with rear radiators.
While we have not seen a concept, production, or spy shots of an LF-A in a while, the LF-A can be seen the weekend of May 21st competing in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
