Unlike Smart, Mini isn’t quite ready to take the wraps off its electric scooter concepts for the Paris Motor Show, but Autocar managed to dredge up what appear to be official photographs of the show bikes before their big debut

The Scooter E concept is an extension of Mini’s E-branded electric-car strategy, pioneered by the Mini E. Although Mini’s conceptual rendering showed only a yellow scooter, that model will share the stage with two others, one green and one white. According to British magazine Autocar, the battery-powered scooter’s motor is placed in the rear wheel, with a retractable charging cable stored in a rear compartment.

Like the Smart Escooter, the Scooter E concept has full instrumentation through a rider’s iPhone, which docks to serve as an instrument panel and a startup device. The scooter shares few design traits with its larger, four-wheeled siblings, save for the oversized circular docking station and wacky paint customization.

The Scooter E is expected to debut tomorrow night ahead of a Paris unveiling. Is this the beginning of a war between the small-car manufacturers to attract the hipster dollar? Stay with Automobilemag.com for the latest news on the scooter’s powertrain and plans for production.
