How would you modify a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK?; At the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Mercedes-Benz hopes to offer four examples of how its new compact SUV can be tailored for street, strip, or even the dusty trail.
In typical SEMA fashion, the Urban Whip GLK, customized by Boulevard Customs, aims for the ‘bling’ factor.; Boulevard adds 26-inch wheels, a wide-body styling kit, and a grille only a Cadillac Escalade could love.
Brabus’ Widestar, built from a GLK 300 Bluetec diesel, adds some show to the go.; Although we’ve not heard the particulars on how the German tuner pumped up the 2.2-liter turbo-diesel I-4, they have added a custom body kit and hood styled after their monstrous Bullet.
RENNTech’s GLK, the Rally Racer aims to take performance off-road.; Patterned after a rally car, the Rally Racer uses a raised suspension, wide fender flares, and a hybrid system designed to give the car a boost out of corners.
The Four Corners Rock Crawler transforms the GLK into a full-blown trail machine.; Built by Legendary Motor Cars, the design calls for lifted suspension, large wheels, integrated off-road lights and brush bar, and a built-in winching system.; We hear that feature, coupled with custom-fabricated side rails, allow for skateboarders to ‘grind’ down the side of the car.
We’ll see for certain when we cover the SEMA show beginning on November 4th.; In the meantime, if you think one GLK truly stands out, log on to www.mbusa.com and place a vote for your favorite
