It’s a clean sweep — Ford managed to snag both the 2010 North American Car and Truck Of The Year awards this morning, with honors going to both the 2010 Fusion Hybrid and 2010 Transit Connect, respectively.
“Winning both these prestigious awards is confirmation that the ‘ONE Ford’ plan is working,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of the Americas.
It’s also quite rare for a single automaker to sweep both awards. In the 17 years of the awards’ existence, it has only happened twice.
Awards are based upon the voting of 49 automotive journalists, and any candidate for the title must be all-new or “thoroughly revised” in any given model year. The Fusion Hybrid was voted the best from a field of sixteen competitors (including the new Porsche Panamera, while the Transit Connect bested nearly ten other candidates for the title
