Though Chevy’s next compact car has been shown at a number of events, we’ve only seen a clay model of the exterior.; On the eve of it’s official debut at the Paris motor show, we been gifted these – the first interior photos of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.
While the wrap-around dashboard evokes both the 2010 Camaro and the 2011 Volt, the Cruze manages to have a cockpit that’s all its own.; Perhaps the biggest factor in its exclusivity is the extensive use of fabric on the instrument panel itself.
“Fabric is warm and inviting in ways plastics cannot be,” said David Lyon, GM’s executive director of interior design.; “Instead of limiting fabric to seats, we spread that warmth and luxury throughout the vehicle.”
That’s a good thing – for outside of the color-coordinated fabric sections, much of what we see inside is all black.; Designers broke up the monotony with a considerable amount of silver highlights on the center stack and steering wheel, but arguably, the fabric highlights are what truly catch the eye.
We’ll bring you more photos and our impressions on the interior once we see it at tomorrow’s press conference.; Stay with Automobile Magazine for all the latest news and happenings from the 2008 Paris motor show.
