The Mercedes-Benz S-Class may not be ultra-rare, having been in existence for more than four decades, and selling more than 10,000 of them in the U.S. a year, but for most of its existence, it’s been the standard by which all other full-size luxury sedans are judged. For 2014, the S-Class re-sets the bar once again, with more features and technology than ever. Mercedes made this approximately five minute video to showcase all the bells and whistles on its new flagship.
The video starts off with a 40-something executive overlooking the urban skyline (presumably Los Angeles) from a turnout standing beside his 2014 S-Class, then going down the road. The LED headlights illuminate with a Mario Brothers-like “blrring!” as the other features of the new sedan are introduced, including the ambient interior lighting, Air Balance air filtering and, yes, perfuming feature, Magic Body Control, Mercedes’ new predictive road surface scanning active suspension, and the First Class Rear Suite option, featuring an aircraft-style tray table, massage seats, mobile device integration, and built-in WiFi connectivity.
After the coddling, the car’s safety features such as Distronic Plus, cross-traffic alert, Stop & Go Pilot and lane keep assist features are all demonstrated. Finally, integration of the rear display screens using a mobile device as a text input shows the available web browsing in the rear seats.
Although the style change is evolutionary, the new S-Class maintains its tradition of luxury-class technology and features leadership. Check out all the features in the video below.
