Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. (the former world record holder for world’s longest drift) recently had the chance to do some drifting in Saudi Arabia in his Formula D-spec Ford Mustang. Gittin’s video, appropriately titled ‘Drifting in the K.S.A.” features him drifting all around an empty desert racetrack with an appropriately awesome bellowing V-8 soundtrack.
Since it’s inevitable, let’s get this out of the way first. ‘Drifting in the K.S.A.’ and Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos are going to be compared. Both drivers are sponsored by Monster Energy Drinks, drive Fords, and have cars splattered in a black and white livery. That being said, while ‘Drifting in the K.S.A.’ doesn’t feature the same precision and theatrics as Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos, it’s still quite enjoyable. ‘Drifting in the K.S.A.’ not only features some unique and original camera angles (like the dizzying steering column-mounted camera) but some pretty impressive driving – especially when you keep in mind Gittin’s hustling around a big, rear-wheel drive muscle car.
