This week’s Wide Open Throttle takes a look at two entirely different cars. Host Jessi Lang shows off the new 2012 BMW M6 convertible from California, while European editor Paul Horrell goes to Spain to check out the all-new Audi A3.
Lang starts us off with a gorgeous 560 hp San Marino Blue Metallic 2012 M6 convertible. The big Bimmer is very customizable, Lang says; the M6 will allow its drivers to adjust throttle response, steering weight, shift programs, stability control settings, and even damper settings.
Next Horrell reports from Spain, where he’s driving a pre-production version of the new Audi A3. The A3 rides on the new MQB platform – the chassis VW hopes will eventually underpin everything from the Passat to the next Audi TT. Though the U.S. market won’t get an A3 two-door hatch like the one Horrell drives, he notes that we will get the four-door hatch, a plug-in hybrid, and a sedan.
