Feature Flick: Take a Visit to the Porsche Exclusive Center

So many enthusiasts dream of buying a Porsche. What if you could afford to own one, but really wanted to make it your own? Porsche has an answer for you: the Porsche Exclusive personalization service and the, erm, exclusive design center at the automaker’s Zuffhausen Plant in Stuttgart, Germany.

Porsche offers thousands of customization options through its Porsche Exclusive program, which is available on all of its models. Options include things like bespoke exterior and interior colors, different trim, and, our favorite, trimmed or leather-wrapped HVAC vent slats. Buyers beware, however: tick too many Exclusive boxes on the option sheet, and the price of your new Porsche could easily double. (It’s possible, for instance, to inflate the sticker price of a V-6-powered Cayenne – which normally costs $49,825 — north of $120,000.)

At the Porsche Exclusive Center, each customer meets with his or her own Customer Advisor to determine what modifications are desired and establish what modifications are actually possible. Exclusive touches aren’t limited to cosmetic upgrades, although – Porsche will also add specialized suspension setups, exhausts, and wheels to suit the customer’s desires. The Stuttgart center employs just 17 specialists and will produce no more than 20 cars per day. There is also an Exclusive Center at Porsche’s Leipzig Plant, and Porsche is planning on opening two in the U.S., in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
