The 2013 Scion FR-S and 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club are for those who value the driving experience over track times. On this Feature Flick, Carlos Lago and Kim Reynolds head to the canyons to search for the car that’s the most fun.
After throwing all the performance stats out the window, Lago evaluates the FR-S and Miata on canyon roads to see which sports car provides the most driving enjoyment. Despite the less pleasing induction sound, Lago is pleased with the FR-S’ back-to-basics focus as well as its controllable and flexible chassis. While the smaller Miata offers a more intimate driving experience, its good steering feel, noticeable body roll, and open top puts the focus on each moment.
Without a clear winner, Lago returns to the track to ask Reynolds to help him determine the better sports car. Reynolds reluctantly agrees to take both cars around the figure-eight without any vehicle- or heart-rate-monitoring equipment. So which Japanese four-cylinder sports car do they prefer?
