Chances are you may have seen a few clips the other week, in which Red Bull’s RB7 F1 car sang its (ten-cylinder) heart out and blitzed through the Lincoln Tunnel. Entertaining, but it seems both were mere previews of something longer yet.
Behold Red Bull Racing’s American Vacation 2. Much like its original American Vacation video, which had the F1 car visit Austin, Texas, American Vacation 2 has the Red Bull car visit another American locale that will soon host an F1 race. In this case, it’s New Jersey. Though details are still a bit up in the air, the city of Weehawken should play host to the F1 circus in July of 2013.
Some speculation – fueled in part by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone – suggests the race may not be held until 2014, as many surfaces allegedly require significant repair before being deemed race-ready. That remains to be seen, but in the meantime, enjoy the sights, sound, and the spectacle of David Coulthard flogging the RB7 through the streets of Jersey. Whenever it does finally happen, we hope the race itself will be as entertaining…even if cars won’t be blasting down the Lincoln Tunnel.
