As we eagerly await the arrival of the upcoming Lotus Esprit, the British automaker has released a teaser video that discusses the progress of its V-8 engine.
The video features Lotus CEO Dany Bahar and an engine developer, whose long hair and loose-hanging jewelry gets uncomfortably close to some moving engine parts. The clip is purely a tease, as no engine specs or power outputs are provided.
It’s been a year since we first learned and reported on the next-gen Lotus Esprit. It was rumored to receive a revised Lexus LS V-8 engine, but the news didn’t go over too well with many enthusiasts and Lotus loyalists alike. Lotus has since decided that it would be too costly to modify the Lexus mill, and established this new engineering program.
“To take a decision to design your own engine is big decision,” Bahar says in the video. “It’s a brave decision and we’ve taken that decision.”
