The all-electric Nissan Leaf turns one year old this month, which spells a big milestone for the battery-electric vehicle. While it’s predictable that a company like Nissan would celebrate this passing of time, the way in which they did it is a bit…unconventional, like the Leaf.
Yes, the video below is a cute rendition of “Happy Birthday,” as sung to the Leaf by a choir of electrical outlets. And they’re outlets of all kinds: young, old, interior, exterior, and even one with a night light plugged in. It’s altogether a much more adorable advertisement than, say, Nissan imagining a world powered by two-cycle gas engines.
We have only one quip with the ad: all the outlets are 110-volt, not the standard 240-volt (level two) or 500-volt (level three) units that would more efficiently charge the Leaf’s on-board batteries. Those 110-volt outlets might be cute, but one of them would take about 20 hours to fully charge the zero-emissions hatchback.
