If you thought automotive tomfoolery like burnouts and donuts were the exclusive domain of American muscle cars, think again. This cheeky video from Morgan proves that even a 115-hp, three-wheel roadster can scorch its single rear tire in a vacant parking lot.
The Morgan 3 Wheeler made its public debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Inspired by the old-school trikes built by Morgan at the turn of the 20th century, the 3 Wheeler employs a 115-hp V-twin motorcycle engine. It’s connected to a Mazda-sourced five-speed manual transmission, and routes power to a single rear wheel. Morgan claims the car dashes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and manages a windy 115 mph top speed.
Sure, smoking tires doesn’t really fit with the Morgan brand image, but it proves the 3 Wheeler has some performance gusto to back up its wild, blast-from-the-past appearance. We love the goggles and sport jacket worn by the driver — hopefully those come standard with every £25,000 (about $40,000) 3 Wheeler.
