At midnight tonight, video gamers across the country will clamor to get their hands on a copy of the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game. But what if the United States comes under armed siege at 11.30 and it’s difficult to get to Target? Simple: get yourself a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Modern Warfare 3 special-edition.
With MW3 nearly on store shelves, the special edition Jeep Wrangler we previously reported on is ready as well, and is scheduled to arrive at Jeep dealers this week. At a price of $36,495 for the two-door and $40,070 for the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, the model isn’t cheap, but Jeep is pegging it as “the toughest car in the world…any world.” It comes with a cadre of Call of Duty logos on the front quarter panels, custom seats, and gauges, a custom plaque with serial number on the dashboard, and Modern Warfare 3-logoed slush mats. When the going gets tough, the MW3 Wrangler has an available 2-inch lift kit, gigantic five-spoke wheels, and a Warn winch.
Predictably, Jeep’s marketing for the new special-edition model is timed to coincide with the game’s roll-out. Chrysler’s released a special sneak preview of the special Wrangler, and will roll out the new special edition car with a special ad campaign that promises to entertain video gamers and Jeep fans alike. Highlights include special electroluminescent billboards in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, and a so-called “Camp Tread” experience – which purportedly puts visitors into a simulated military zone and shows off the Wrangler MW3 edition – at GameStop locations in New York and Chicago.
What do you think–is the Modern Warfare 3 Jeep a decisive victory or a crushing defeat? Will many MW3 fans decide to cross over into reality and drive a Wrangler in the real world? Time will tell. Until them, check out Chrysler’s promo blitz in the video below.
