While the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is an event that’s most known for the diverse gathering of cars that it gets, the car show isn’t the main attraction. The main attraction—the race up Goodwood Hill, is a chance for the public to not only see both supercars and Formula 1 cars and everything in between in-action, but it also allows them to hear cars in person that they ‘d otherwise only hear on YouTube. One manufacturer that understands this is Jaguar, who released a teaser of what attendees will hear when its new XKR-S takes on Goodwood Hill.
This short video that Jaguar released last week just features an XKR-S making its way up Goodwood Hill as its driver familiarizes himself with the course. As the driver makes his way up the 1.16 mile-long course, we’re treated to some gratuitous shots of the Ian Callum-penned XKR-S in front of the Goodwood Estate, and glorious bellows from the Jag’s supercharged V-8. While Jaguar in the video’s description calls the XKR-S, “The fastest and most powerful production sports car Jaguar ever built,” don’t let the Jaguar’s fantastic exhaust note in the video distract you from the truth. While the XKR-S might be one of the most powerful production Jaguars ever built with its 542-hp supercharged V-8, its 186 mph top speed is 26 mph short of taking the title of fastest Jaguar ever from its 542-hp twin-turbo V-6 XJ220 predecessor.
